Abstract

The use of historical novels used in conjunction with textbooks and primary sources has made learning history more enjoyable. The function of the historical novel is the resurection of the past, the ability to revive the past which is the subject of the story and able to provide historical information. Learning from past experiences can help shape the learners character to instill an understanding of past community developments to the present day, to foster a sense of nationality and love of the country and to have a sense of pride as a citizen of Indonesia, and to expand public relations among nations in the world. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. In this study, researchers will describe the picture of what it is to the reality studied. Researchers chose the historical method as a research method and litelatur study as a research technique. After studying the novel Pramoedya Ananta Toer learners can learn the characters raised in novels such as humanism values, justice, divine values ​​and life-spirited.
